Dear Fellow Obstetric Anaesthesiologists and my dear friends,

Warm greetings from the Association of Obstetric Anesthesiologists of India.

The Association of Obstetric Anesthesiologists of India has been striving since its inception to advance the anesthesia care of the pregnant women in our country. I feel extremely humbled and honored to serve as the Honorary Secretary and follow in the foot steps of my distinguished predecessors who have left no stone unturned in developing this association and maintain its academic standards. I am privileged to be part of a capable and competent team of executives, headed by the President of the Association, Dr. Anju Grewal.

Obstetric anesthesia is a speciality which can appear seemingly simple and yet suddenly become extremely complex. Ours is a country of many, and diversity is a common feature. Practices are not essentially standardized across the country. We aim in the next few years, to set up standards of maternal care across the country that would help decrease maternal mortality and morbidity. We plan to create awareness, formulate guidelines and work with all of you towards providing better anesthesia care for this vulnerable population. We are planning to have online teaching programs and webinars, workshops and outreach programs to disseminate knowledge in safe motherhood, labor analgesia, obstetric anesthesia and obstetric critical care. I seek your active participation in all these endeavors. The official journal of the Association is “Journal of Obstetric Anesthesia and Critical Care” and I request all of you to send your articles to our journal for publication. I request active participation from all of you in our academic endeavors.

Let us all work towards building safer obstetric anesthesia across the country.

Kind Regards

Dr Aruna Parameswari Professor and Head
